2015 TargetIt’s easy to follow what’s considered “normal” when it comes to creating your goals and then staying inside of the box with the process and working to achieve them. Did you know that only 20% of people create goals and that of that 20% only 1% of them write them out, review them regularly or achieve them? The stats on goal achievement aren’t all that great. Only a few get to the pinnacle and it’s because of the way they approach the entire process and their daily practice.

First and foremost, I believe the key is ditching the norm…the way that everyone else does things, and learning to create from a space that feeds you and connects you with your personal power. One that makes your approach more holistic in nature. This means starting to create from an entirely different place. Instead of creating your goals by beginning to think about what you want to accomplish, start by contemplating how you want things to look. The experiences you want to have and, more importantly how you want to feel in the coming months or year. Once you’ve determined that you can set your intentions. This is the foundation that you create your goals from.

Look at the intentions you’ve set and the experiences and feelings you want to have and determine what your goals are. Start with simple empowering statements that really speak to you; that compel and pull you in. You don’t want to get to a point where you realize that your goals aren’t speaking to or motivating you. They should call you forth into a different way of being. They should stretch you and contribute to your growth.

Take your statements and morph them into SMART goals. Craft goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound. Flipping the script leaves you with goals that are solid and that speak to you. Goals that are going to call you to move toward them with passion and create what you envision.
